How ChessNavio hints work on Chess.com
How to connect ChessNavio to Chess.com, start your own game or a game against the computer, and get a hint on your turn.
Connecting happens once
After installing, open chess.com and click the ChessNavio icon. The extension recognises the site itself and asks for permission to read it. You never have to find the site in a long list. You can switch that permission off again at any time, either in ChessNavio settings or in your browser.
Start your own game
Open an active game, Play Computer or Bots, and actually make your first move. ChessNavio should not show moves on the home page, in your list of games, or before your own position is live on the board.
The assistant works out your side
ChessNavio reads the board orientation and works out which colour you are playing. A recommendation appears only on your turn. If you flip the board by hand, the assistant checks the orientation again, so the arrow stays tied to the squares rather than to the screen.
What appears next to the board
The main card shows the recommended move, an evaluation in plain words and a short idea. The extra lines are there for comparison: click one and it becomes the main arrow. A caption explains what the arrow colour means, so you never have to guess.
Why a short calculation is needed
After a move, ChessNavio confirms the current position and then picks a recommendation for your level and the time you have. It does not swap that move for a different one in the same position: a new arrow appears after the next move or after you change a setting yourself.
What to do about a delay
After a fast exchange of moves the assistant first re-checks the position, so it does not draw advice for a move that has already been played. That is usually quicker than a full calculation from scratch. If the state stops changing, reload the page and open diagnostics for a short connection check.
